Stewarding land as carefully as we tell its story.
A long-term commitment to restoring and protecting British woodland and wetland landscapes through creativity and care.
Inspired by the conservation legacy of early pioneers such as Beatrix Potter—who helped demonstrate how private land ownership could be used to secure lasting environmental protection through stewardship and, ultimately, the National Trust—Sharon Cresswell has built on that tradition in a contemporary form.
Rick and Sharon Cresswell's work sits at the intersection of arts, media, and landscape storytelling, including creative practice from their professional work in the arts and media. Rather than treating land and narrative as separate disciplines, they bring them together—using creative thinking to shape how natural places are understood, valued, and cared for over time.
This philosophy has taken physical form through the stewardship of a privately held North Devon woodland on the edge of Exmoor. The site contains a rich mosaic of habitats: stream-fed wet woodland, mature and regenerating native trees, and areas transitioning from historic conifer planting back toward broadleaf regeneration. It is a landscape defined by water, light, and quiet ecological recovery.
Wildlife presence is central to its value. Clear running water supports aquatic invertebrates and native fish species, while the surrounding habitat provides corridors for birds, mammals, and insects typical of resilient woodland systems. The emphasis is not on access or visibility, but on allowing natural processes to re-establish themselves with minimal disturbance.
At its core, this is a long-term commitment to stewardship—where creative practice and environmental care operate together. The aim is simple: to protect, restore, and quietly rewild a piece of Britain’s woodland landscape, ensuring it continues to evolve for generations to come.

We actively plant oak saplings on Exmoor National Park, clear away fly tipping and restore historic structures.

RICK CRESSWELL
I'm facsinated by solitary spaces and like Sharon being 'one with creation'. Camp craft, animal watch, survival, and off road activities are close to my heart.
